Asr prayer begins when the shadow of an object is equal to its height (or twice its height according to the Hanafi school) plus its shadow at noon. It ends just before Maghrib (sunset).

Asr must be prayed before sunset. Delaying it until the sun turns yellow is disliked (makruh). If missed, it should be made up as Qada as soon as possible.
